Sautéed Dillisk

I wanted to try to recreate the delicious sautéed seaweed with garlic that we had at the abalone farm, and I enjoy sautéed spinach with eggs.

So how about seaweed & eggs?

I soaked the dillisk in cold water for 10 minutes per the directions and then cooked them in a pan with butter and garlic. Added some leftover sweet potato latkes to the plate with fried eggs on top.

The verdict?

It was okay. It was too seaweedy overall, kind of like the fishiness when your fish has gone fishy. In small bits with the sweet potato and egg it was good, but it was way too much.

Now I get why most seaweed recipes include something like kale along with the seaweed when it’s going to be used in large quantities like this. Also I should have chopped it up after soaking it and probably rinsed it a few more times too. Maybe I’ll add some lemon next time as well. Lessons learned. I was not able to finish it…
